ICP-CCP: Instructor Training for Couple Communication

Workshop covers teaching/coaching skills for talking, listening, resolving conflicts, and managing anger effectively. The content in this 2-day workshop is integrated with relevant theory and research.</p> <p><font color="#000099"><b>Who Should Attend the Instructor Workshop?</b></font><br> The workshop is open to professionals serving in the following capacities:</p> <ul> <ul> <li>Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists <li>Psychologists <li>Clinical Social Workers <li>Certified Counselors <li>Clergy <li>Family Life Educators <li>Pastoral Counselors </ul> </ul> <p><font color="#000099"><b>Workshop Goal</b></font><br> The goal of the workshop is to sharpen the ability of participants to help couples talk, listen, resolve conflicts, and manage anger effectively.</p> <p><font color="#000099"><b>Objectives</b></font><br> By attending this workshop, participants will:<br> </p> <ul> <li>Identify the competencies for successful instruction of the frameworks, skills, and processes <li>Practice skill/process coaching methods with real and simulated issues <li>Identify guidelines for gaining commitment to learning from couples <li>Identify ways to support the transfer and extended use of the skills and processes <li>Explore guidelines for special circumstances (e.g., working with highly conflicted couples) <li>Integrate programs with contemporary theories and research <li>Choose instructional designs for your setting - clinic, education, or congregation/community </ul> <p><font color="#000099"><b>Workshop Learning Methods</b></font><br> The instructor workshop incorporates all COUPLE COMMUNICATION learning modes - presentations, demonstrations, skill practice using skills mats, assessments, and application/transfer exercises. Special attention is focused on how to coach and give feedback effectively to couples. As in the COUPLE COMMUNICATION Program itself, you practice and coach with real issues of your own choosing (appropriate for the setting). In addition, because it is instructor training, you use simulated issues and situations for certain exercises.</p> <p><font color="#000099"><b>Instructor Workshop and Program Materials</b></font><br> Each workshop participant uses a Couple Packet (the couple material for the program) and a COUPLE COMMUNICATION Instructor Manual.
